This is about evaluating how usable a system is; the term can be read quite broadly, or may be distinguished from evaluating user experience.There are many ways of evaluating usability: expert evaluation techniques are useful for early design or when users are difficult to contact, but typically the gold standard is expected to use real users. When evaluating with real users there are still many options from controlled laboratory experiments to in the wild studies.
